20/20 Vision Program

We take 8th graders out into the community and show them all the different types of jobs that will be available to them upon graduation.
Our 20/20 Vision Program is part of our Workforce Development programming. The program takes 8th grade students out into the community to visit, tour and hear talks about different jobs available in Merrill. The students are broken down into groups according to their Career Clusters that are determined through the school system based on their interests and aptitudes. There are 16 different general career clusters and we were able to give all 200 students their first choice clusters in 15 of the 16 career fields. The students were then taken to the businesses and heard about all the different career choices in those fields that were available right here in their own backyard. It is our hope that the more exposure the students have to job/career availabilities in Merrill the more likely that some of them may choice to return to their hometowns following advanced education or training to raise their families and help fill the void that is being made by our aging population.
