The Great Pumpkin Fest is a community event celebrating the fall season with a focus on youth and the development of STEM in schools.
The Great Pumpkin Chuckin Fest is a community event celebrating the fall season with a focus on youth and the development of STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) skills in local schools. The event highlights a Pumpkin Chuckin competition where teams will build either a catapult, trebuchet or slingshot to launch an 8 to 10 lb. pumpkin for distance, accuracy, and creativity. Other competitions and family-friendly activities include: “The Best of the Midwest BBQ Cook-Off”, this is a sanctioned Kansas City Barbecue Society event, a pumpkin baking contest, people’s choice chili cook-off, free kids games and activities, carnival rides, pie eating contest, mini pumpkin slingshots, potato launching challenge and costume contests for both adults and youth and live music.
